Truth Doesn’t Always Win (A Poem)

Truth doesn’t always win
but we need to tell it anyway
because truth is the water that washes away the stench of corruption

Truth is the salt that prevents corruption from completely taking over everything
Truth is the pesticide which will reduce the presence of corruption
Truth is how we manage to hold on to good
Even while evil seeks to overtake us

Truth doesn’t always win
but we need to tell it anyway
Because we need the truth to survive,
to be alive,
to behold,
to exist in a way that is meaningful
and spiritually healthy

Truth protects our souls from being
Damned to evil here
and in the many worlds that our souls will inhabit after this one

Truth doesn’t always win in the battle in the courts of law,
where crashing lies and evil
have garnered all the resources for themselves
but still we need to tell the truth in such spaces

We need to tell the truth
because truth is the seed that takes root
wherever there is room
and continues the legacy of human good
that will sprout up someday, somewhere
in some generation
and provide light out of the darkness of that generation

Truth does not always win in the courts of corruption
But the truth must continue to be told
For the sake of the future generation.
